Specialty Exposures
By their very nature, these exposures involve inherent risk to the participant and potential liability to the provider. In many cases it is undesirable, if not impossible, to completely remove the risk without destroying the appeal of the activity. Nevertheless, by applying subject knowledge, experience, risk management principles and common sense, we have been able to offer our clients a system for mitigating risk and promoting safety while preserving the enjoyment of their guest’s experience.

Equine Operations
These operations include guest ranches, riding stables, trail rides, pack trips, wagon/sleigh rides, and hunting operations that use horses and/or mules. Some businesses also offer working ranch experiences, cattle drives, gymkhanas and rodeo-type activities. By applying
a thorough knowledge of the equine’s characteristics with a situational awareness of each specific activity, we have developed management techniques and policies and procedures that reduce risk to an acceptable level
for participants, operators and insurers. Our Risk Management staff includes horse owners, ranchers, commercial equine operators, breeder/trainers, and a former rodeo rider. We have published the Equine Operations Risk Management Guide for use by our clients. |

Water Operations
We assess and manage risks which take place in and on saltwater, as well as freshwater lakes, pools, streams and rivers of Class I - V. Activities include the use of crewed and rental watercraft, tubing, wade fishing, SCUBA/SNUBA and swimming pool/spa facilities. Our staff has boat owners, kayakers, rafters, fishing guides, SCUBA divers and a U.S. Coast Guard certified Captain. Our Water Operations Risk Management Guide is available to our clients. |

We have provided our services and advice to commercial shooting ranges, sportsman’s clubs, instructional facilities, hunting lessors, outfitters and other businesses which provide a sporting firearms activity. Our Associates include former Army and Marine Corps officers, hunters, marksmanship competitors and instructors, guides, outfitters and the Senior Editor of Western Hunter magazine. All Terrain Vehicle Operations
ATVs and other Off Highway Vehicles (OHVs) are becoming increasingly commonplace in recreation. They are used for touring, transporting guests to and from field locations, hauling of equipment and general utility. Our operational guidelines stress observance of the manufacturer’s recommendations, advice from the American ATV Association and common guest management procedures. All of our staff members are experienced ATV operators. We created our ATV and Snowmobile Risk Management Guide for client use and application. |

Snowmobile Operations
While some risks are common to both Snowmobiles and ATV’s - collision, rollovers and impact with low-hanging branches or wires - snowmobile operators must be prepared for severe cold weather conditions and emergencies as well. Our staff of associates includes individuals trained in cold weather operations and survival, ski patrolling, and ski area management. We created our ATV and Snowmobile Risk Management Guide for client use and application. |

Recreational Vehicle Parks and Campgrounds
These recreational facilities are numerous, extremely popular and are situated in almost all geographical areas. Their inherent risk combines vehicular and premise hazards with the interaction of people and pets living in close proximity. One third of our staff members are RV owners and all are familiar with the general and specific risk management of these businesses. |

Summer Activities
We have the experience to consult, assess and provide management solutions for a variety of other warm weather activities such as Bicycle Tours, Caving/Spelunking, Hiking, Rock and Indoor Wall Climbing, and Survival and Wilderness Operations. |

Winter
We evaluate and make recommendations on Cross Country Skiing, Downhill Skiing, Sledding, Tubing and Snowshoeing activities. Due to the extreme temperatures and shortened days, these require some special considerations for guest safety in terms of equipment, staff training, and emergency procedures. |

Other Activities
Outdoor Recreation is a diverse and ever-changing industry. Each year new activities and apparatus are developed. Our experience in traditional risks enables our Risk Managers to address emerging situations and devices as well. Some recent additions include Jeep Tours, Agri-tourism, Amusement Devices (jumping pillows, waterslides and zip-lines), Ropes Courses, Team Building and Youth Camps. |
